Hi All,

This may seem like a stupid question to you all, but

Having never attended one of these what do you take along with you, I. E

Marketing materials, do you have a glossy brochure or anything else apart from plenty of business cards ?

And does the above suffice for networking events ?

We are a property maintenance & related services company

Yes it a genuine question for those who are thinking what the hell

Thanks in advance

Think about what you wish to achieve, orders on the spot, introductions, just getting your name out there etc. That will help with what you take.

In your place I would simply go to make contacts and follow on appointments, rather than expect to secure business on the day, so cards and diary would suffice for myself. The problem with literature is possible new contacts might decide against you before you pitch to them, but your call.

Put yourself in the buyer's position. What would you want to take away from that meeting? What's going to make them want to contact you again? What's going to make you stick in their memory?

Business card for certain. Brochure is nice. I like to use a case study - one page document describing how you've worked for a similar company, and done a good job or saved them money.

I'm not a big fan of giving out - or receiving - brochures at exhibitions. If possible I'd get email address - and permission to use it - and offer to send an email with a link to a website. Gives you, the exhibitor, a little more control over the relationship after the event.
