Media Distribution List

O

Officebird

I know it's a long shot, but here goes anyway....:)

Does anyone know of a website that will give me a list of all the North East newspapers and their contact details in order to send a press release?

We have a massive regional event coming up and are sure they'd love to run a story on it but getting the list together is proving to be a complete nightmare. If you know the name of the papers its fairly easy to get a phone number etc but I'm struggling with names of the papers, email addresses etc and just wondered if there is such a list already out there.

Thanks for any help:)

not sure if theres a list as such..although there should be.

unfortunately i'm North Yorkshire and no longer North East so i cannot remember all the regional papers. Northern Echo i think is one...Middlesbrough Evening Gazette....Gazette Live < think thats just the website now though. Thornaby Light, The Herald, ChronicleLive, ... nope can't think of any more, that was from a list from 2/3 years ago so don't know if they're all still operational.

Hi,

I have this list that was compiled a couple of years ago of the publications only so it may not be completeley up to date. Unfortunately I don't have any of the contact details as it is a long time since I have done regional PR for anyone based in the North East. However the main newspapers all have websites and most of them have the journalists names and sometimes e-mail addresses on there.

Evening Chronicle
Sunderland Echo
Hartlepool Mail
Shields Gazette
The Journal - Durham
New Post Leader
Hexham Courant
The journal
North East Exclusive Magazine
Sunday Sun
Northern Echo
Evening Gazette, Middlesborough
North News and Pictures
North East Times
Accent Magazine
Shields Magazine
North East Vision
North East Exclusive

Free papers

Gateshead Herald and Post
Hartlepool Star
Newcastle Herald and Post
North Tyneside Herald and Post
Seaham Star
South Tyneside Star
South Tyneside Herald and Post
Sunderland Star
Washington Star

Alternatively you could try http://www.mediauk.com/ for more lists. ABC used to be really good for this kind of thing but that is a subscription only service now.

Thanks
Laura

Incidentally, a lot of the regional newspaper's websites have bylines underneath the headline, which are also links to the journalist's e-mail address now. Just find a story similar to the one you are sending in and you may have the name and the e-mail address of the appropriate journalist right there.

    Hello

I haven't used this company/service, as we have our own media database service, which we use here at the agency to research and put together media lists for our clients, but the service below looks like a good deal, if you are looking for a one-off distribution service.

    http://www.pressdispensary.co.uk/press-release-services.php

Definitely money well spent, as it's likely to cost you more than that in your time to research and put together a media list, plus they help advise on your release too.

Press release contacts are gold, not many people will release the details. They will distribute for you, but not pass on the contact details.

I have a load of Journo contact details, and I was given them on the STRICT agreement that while I can send stuff, on no account was I to pass on their email or contact details.

There are services out there though.

Thanks guys, some of the names that have been suggested aren't on my list so it's a great help.

I'll take a look at the bylines as well and also check out a press release type service.

I'll let you know how I get on. Meanwhile for anyone that's curious I shall put the press release in the events section here:)
