Marketing an e-book

I’m curious as what routes of marketing you fine folks would recommend for trying to promote a bookmaker related e-book.

I have set up a website selling the downloadable manual.

Having set up accounts on Twitter and Facebook sales have been very brisk in the first week. I have found that being able to interact with potential customers has been very fruitful.

I just think that there are many areas that I haven’t even considered.

I looked briefly into selling through Clickbank- has anyone any experience doing so and if so what kind of results have they found?

I also have thought about Amazon but am I right in saying it is more geared to selling actual books for people to download to their Kindle device?

E-bay seems to be so full of rubbish these days that I haven’t gone near it yet.

Any idea or opinions at all would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

If you are up to selling e-book and has designed website too then it would be appropriate that you generate traffic to your website...by participating in blogs and back linking to your website . and you can even utilize social media to promote your website .

If you for the UK market you may find it difficult. But Clickbank is a good place for USA and the way you could go at that is to signup to clickbank and get you links. Then create your own web page, only needs to be one splash with you link to buy via clickbank. Then use the traffic exchanges to drive people to your page.

It not as hard as it sounds and should be fun.

Hi Darren,

What is your ebook about? :)

It's really amazing how Facebook and Twitter can massively contribute to your ebook's success. I'm somehow seeing a trend where ebook authors are becoming easily accessible to readers, answering follow up questions or discussing some thoughts. Readers become so delighted that they naturally become your own army of brand ambassadors.

You can also try giving a free review copy to influential sites or communities in exchange for a feature. This way, interest groups related to your ebook easily learn about it while you gain valuable contacts along the way.

I've marketed through Clickbank before, although the traffic I have gotten has not been that brilliant to be honest. Some people prefer alternatives because you get more control over the whole ordering process, letting you capture more client data.

Have you looked at writer forums, join them and join the conversation. Linkedin, there are many groups on there for writers and publishers. You could also write press releases and distribute them through online PR websites.

You could also try and find online marketers in the niche and approach them for an endorsement on their websites or do a JV with them.

Just a few ideas

Hope this helps

Hi

I agree with the earlier point that you need to promote using a website, social media, etc. However, here are some other resources:

1. Lulu - allows you to upload digital book to sell. It can place them into the main distribution channels.

2. Visit the Smart Passive Income blog and download the free e-book on publishing an e-book. Very good.

All the best.

Marketing an e-book also means you have to get the word out about the e-book. If no one knows it exits then they will never sell. Today, a free method of marketing is through the use of blogs. You may find websites across the web related to the topic of the e-book that have blogging capabilities.
