You said it is best to contact the service area to find out - I was asking why would they allow it in a HGV area. Surely you don't need to check something like that as it's very clear what they rule is regarding to who should be parked there.

I said parking would be ordinary areas. LGV would be parked with the cars, as can be plainly seen on the services. There are the “other” services, such as washing facilities.

I used to drive an LGV for many years, and occasionally parked in the HGV areas, never personally had a problem but I was never there for longer the 4-5 hours for a quick sleep. I preferred the normal car park areas but sometimes they were just too busy.

I seriously discourage our people from using any HGV parking . HGV parking is difficult to find and they are working on taco and under a lot of pressure . A van driver has a spare 20 minutes to relocate.

Its is not about rules or laws a professional van driver will take other road users into consideration and this goes across the board in all discipline's on the road.

    Look after other road users
    Look after the road
and the road will look after you

Do you mean I'd be able to stay longer than two hours in the main car park?
Yes if you pay £35 but then for £70 you can stay in the hotel and thats what I would do :)
