As a company who hosts Sage 50 Accounts on remote desktops we've been getting a lot of questions from our customers about Making Tax Digital (MTD). There is a lot of confusion about whether Sage 50 supports MTD, what version you need to be on? do you really have to upgrade to subscription? can you still buy perpetual (one-off) licences? and so on. So to help out our existing customers we decided to do some research:

In a nutshell, Sage do an MTD module subscription. It will work on version 24 or above. It will work on perpetual licence versions. It comes free if you are on subscription, but not if you just pay for Sage Cover Extra.

Working with our Sage licence distributors we've produced a quick guide to how you can get the Making Tax Digital module for your specific version of Sage 50.
Go to www.yourofficeanywhere.co.uk/mtd to read the full article on getting the Making Tax Digital module for your Sage 50 Accounts.

Yes you can buy a perpetual licence for the software, however sage will want a subscription for the MTD module.

There's bridging software available, that costs considerably less (£20 a year), you export you VAT return from sage into Excel, and submit from there.

Instead of clicking 1 button, you click about 5. The time saving is minimal using sage's offering as you do it once a quarter.
