Mailchimp bounce rate

Hi all - hopefully some techy advice

My latest Mailchimp letter got a huge bounce rate - about 20% due to 'security policy'

I have yet to test whether my personal emails are getting the same

Any ideas why - & what I can do about it?

We've had struggles on and off with Mailchimp. I'm told that they operate to US mailing laws, which are much more stringent than UK mailing laws, especially for B2B email lists. In the past we've also had any generic email addresses such as sales@ declined, I'm not sure if this is is still the case though. I was told to try a UK based company, but have so far found them all very expensive, with large set up fees.

If you send a lot of emails, you could use iContact.com. I've used them some time ago, I had a 5% bounce rate if I remember correctly.

Hi there, MailChimp are extra focused this year on cutting down on bounced emails. You might want to run your database thorugh an email checker before sending and weed out any email addresses that don't work anymore, try freebulkemailverifier.com

You might also want to check what sort of phrasing you're using as words like 'free' can trigger email security measures.
