Hi there,

Just about to launch my first product but need some advice on packaging. Could anyone advise whether it’s a legal requirement to have “Made in China” on the label/ box? The product contains dried flowers and a metal hoop in case the materials make a difference to the answer. Thank you so so much in advance.

I had a customer a while ago who imported leather goods - they originated in India, but because he had a clear end-part to the process in Italy (basically quality control), he was legally allowed to label them as 'made in Italy'

That's not expert opinion on my part, but we did check it out and it was legal.

Italy has a rule that if you add ‘significance’ to a product you can label it ‘Made In Italy’, although this was abused where some importers just added a stud or buckle to circumvent the law.

On some products being imported into the UK, there is no need to have the country of origin on the product. It’s best to confirm if your product requires a label by the link given above by @WaveJumper
