Bit of a long shot, but are there any Mac Photoshop users here?

I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with saving *.psd files to a Windows share.

Saving to a Windows share sometimes failing, but worse is that occasionally a files will appear to have been saved, but has actually been deleted.

And definitely deleted, I checked server-side and had to restore a backup from the previous day, which of course meant lost work.

I'm told that occasional is three times in the last year, enough to be annoying.

So just wondered if any Mac/Photoshop users had also seen this or had a suggestion of a workaround.

Can't say I've encountered that, must be a right pain. I'd guess the only surefire way to alleviate it would be to use a third party to make sure everything keeps in sync, like DropBox or Google Drive.

Do you have anything like a constant backup running on the server which backs up files as soon as they change?

My sister in law is graphics designer and uses Live Drive. When its running, it locks files while it backs them up and only unlocks when its complete. She has to disable Live Drive backups while she works to prevent files from being locked otherwise the saves dont work.

No there is nothing like that running, but you mentioning locking rings some bells.
