The economy is certainly not right for something like this.

But, standard stuff would be, getting relationships with party planners, schools, local businesses to impress clients, film and tv studios who might need a limo for a shoot, photographers; be snapped coming out a limo might be an idea.

Night clubs, some like to draw up in limo.

Advertising online I would keep pretty minimal, just your location and limo hire.

The real money is in building a fleet of good chauffeur cars, and getting contracts from business. Some of those put a limo on the side, but mainly have mercs.

I got no limos, but cars like Audi A8, Mercedes E320, Chrysler Grand Voyager....luxury CAR hire + chauffeur driven cars, NOT limo....

so u think I need to spend more time clubbing ))) and spend more time with a party people to get more clients?

Any big office set up with a well heeled top floor will use chauffeurs. I used to work for Castrol and they had 6 in house chauffeurs and an outside company backing those up. The chauffeurs were assigned to individual directors and would run other execs around when the directors were in the office or at home. The outside company would take any overflow provided by high volume or when the chauffeur(s) were actually running around his or their assigned director(s). The London area is the best one in the country for head offices abounding with pampered directors and their wives, though you many need to avoid the banks and insurance companies just at the moment. There should be rich pickings if you run a high standard fleet with uniformed drivers.

So you think I should do somekind of email advertisement? Or how do I get these luxury clients? I need to get to the directors myself in person? Please, give me a direct advise....what should I do?

The classical approach would be to write an introductory letter, your pricing and include a flyer or brochure that has pics of your gleaming cars and well presented drivers. Rather than send in the letters cold, get a name from the receptionist or get through to someone in purchasing who will deal with it or know who to direct you to. A week or so after sending the information follow up with a call to confirm the information has been received. If alls well then you can look to set up a meeting with the decision maker and hopefully get yourself in the mix.

Don't go in expecting 100% success. Companies need a reason to change that will usually be price or poor servce driven. Things that will help you stand out are 24hr contact numbers that get answered. Also dealing with larger companies you will have to be prepared to offer payment terms (28 days credit is a normal period). You will need to be able to produce professional VAT invoices. Dependant on how advanced your business back office is will dictate how far down this road you are and how far you may need to go.

No easy quick fix answer but business relationships founded properly should last for years.

Hope this helps you out!

Barry, may be you will be interested in helping me for a some payment or percentage from sales? I think I need a good manager....))

I live too far away from London to be able to offer you hands on assistance unfortunately. Send me an e-mail of your capabilities with regard to office administration as a first stage including expertise in PC software (this would entail word processing, desk top publishing and accountancy software). Do you have any promotional materials - A5 size flyers, business name, business cards etc? Do you carry 24hr phones? All these bases need covering before venturing into the corporate world.

How modern is your fleet anyway, if we are talking old bangers then it won't work in the corporate or hotel world? I'd suggest 5 year old maximum is a normal limit for executive hire.

If I do end up helping you out and you do start making money then let me know at that time and if you'd be prepared to make a donation to charity I'd consider it time well spent helping two good causes.

hi, i am a new member. this thread makes very interesting reading.

i have toyed with the idea of the luxury car hire business for some time now, knowing successful operations in manchester and sheffield with lambos, range sports ect.

I know a few people who have recently relocated to dubai and i am looking at starting this business over there, where demand is probably greater and networking may be easier.

my main question is how to obtain finance /car leases to finance the fleet, Euge how did you finance your cars? i wonder if uk lease services would let you operate from dubai?! insurance may be cheaper there too.

thanks

I contract hire my cars. You can operate from anywhere, as long as your cars stayed in the UK. You need special insurance to hire out the vehicles.

If it is not Limo, and you have a fleet you are in a better position.

But again the recession is biting that sector a bit, it is going to come down to getting a really good client list, generally businesses, and constantly be looking to fill the bookings.

Oddly enough, the first commercial site I built was a Chauffeur Drive Site.

Buy a wedding magazine! It'll list the upcoming wedding fayre's.
And look for wedding fayre's in local newspapers.
Then simply ring up and book your place. See if you can have a stand outside the main entrance and park a couple of your cars up. Give out leaflets and hopefully take bookings.
