As you know I have been involved in a claim or two

I am confused with the issue over this fire . It was traced to one car so they know the cause
Would the owners insurers be liable for the whole claim or is everybody parked there at the owners risk despite it being a secure /concierge service

i would think each owner claims on their insurer who then tries to reclaim from the insurer of the original car that started the issue. The car park owner's insurer will also be after them.

Then it will come down to reason - was it an accident or because of poor maintenance/home conversion etc etc as to whether they get anywhere. If it was just a chain reaction caused by a common or garden fair wear and tear accident all the insurers take the hit and just raise everyone's premiums a few pence to cover it - if it was something else, 1 insurer takes the hit and raises premiums by more than a few pence to cover the hit.

It all comes down to proving negligence. Was the damage to the other cars caused by someone's negligence?

If so, it is that party would be liable for the losses of others. That party might not be the vehicle owner, could be manufacturer, Service garage etc etc!

In practical terms, i doubt anything will come of the car insurance claims - most insurers will just take the hit and pay the motor claims without incurring additional legal costs in trying to find someone responsible.

However, it may well be worth the airport investigating if there has negligence - they have the cost of repairing the car park and possible loss of business claim if they can legally point the finger. These are huge costs that may make it worth their while to pursue it!"
