So I'm looking to revamp my site. There are a few things I need like a full page video when the site opens, will start a blog etc... And to do all this stuff, will need to start off by porting the site over to somewhere else.

At the moment, I'm just delighted to be back in business after nearly dying from Covid in Jan 2021 and spending a lot of time recovering!

I need a relevant brand message. I don' think my message works as well as it should.

    What are your thoughts? www.FnXMedia.com

What does it typically cost to move a site over to somewhere else? Is it easy? Hard? Expensive?

Moving to a new platform isn't hard but is often time consuming. Because you are using Wix there is no easy way to export all the content. Which means it's going to be a manual process. You can do this yourself or pay someone to do it for you. Freelancer site offer this sort of service for a reasonable amount.

    As to the site.....

What do you want the site to achieve? We spoke briefly on a boat about this a week ago. But the usual answer to this question is: get more leads.

People don't want video. What they want is more business. A video is just one way of doing this. Which means your site should focus more on the benefits of video marketing.

When I land on your site I see something about realising ambition for a fraction of a second then a video starts. I have no idea what it's all about as the sound is off.

There have been umpteen tests over many years about autostart video and they all tell you it's a bad thing. Maybe your stats tell a different story but in general you should never hijack ypur visitors with something they can't control.

What you do need on the homepage your primary marketing message. In your case that video works. Add some stats: XYZ saw a £500K increase in annual profit after switching from advertising to video merketing.

You then need to tell stories. I looked at you 'our work' page and was confronted with a wall of images without context. One of than has:

"If you'd like to see them talking about it, they've even made a customer testimonial describing how powerful the impact..."

I have no idea what this means. The video still shows the back of car so that's no help.

The videos you create are great. But as In said earlier in this post, people don't want video, they want more business. That's what you need to sell. The video examples add to the story.

And each of these stories need to be on it's own page/post.

You then need to think about your calls to action. It says "Click here to discuss your ambitions" but you don't tell me what's going to happen when I do click. You need your phone number all over every page. You need to embed contact forms, email address and office address.

Bin the 'follow us' on social media. You want people to come from FB to the site not go to FB.

There is lots more but that will do for now.

Tell stories. Show potential clients the benefits of getting you to make a movie.

I am going to agree with @fisicx. There is quite a lot of elements that need clicking and watching and customers now days just want quick and easy to either contact someone or make a booking etc. if you don't have the time to do the transfer or redo the site then I would recommend hiring someone.

Clearly I have to hire someone. I was thinking of something like this:

I'd have a simple tagline "Think Small" (think I'll go with that for my new branding) and then something where people can click through. What do you think of their site? They're a competitor. We're frenemies...

That’s an awful site. Took two attempt to get the homepage video to load. White on black may be very arty but it converts poorly. And they claim to be good at seo but have made a right hash of their own site.

Forget about a tagline, there is a lot of work to do first. Mainly organising the content and getting some decent copy written (telling the stories).

It's a good point about the content organisation. I could have one page with 'portfolio' and then another dropdown with 'services' and a list of individual elements.

I think the tagline's important and have one. It'll bring the site together.

A tagline is important but not yet.

Portfolio and services is not part of content organisation. You need to look a lot deeper than this. If you even need a services dropdown you have got it wrong. Anyone landing anywhere on the site should know immediately what you do. There should be no need for a list of services.

Get your marketing plan sorted first. This will dictate the type of site and content. Your tagline will be a consequence of all this planning.

The quality and reviews of your videos are very good, but does not match the quality of the site.

A lot of work to be done, so starting on a new platform may be a good thing as you can just start from scratch.

Definitely hire someone to build the site as it will save you a lot of time. Web design is something even most web designers are not very good at

    Why....?

Cause there is web design - UI (how it looks)

and there is web design -UX - (how its used)

Most specialize in UI with little UX knowledge

Whoever you hire, make sure they specialize in both UI and UX to get the best results.

Sort the tagline later as you will need to focus on the copy, this is more important. Personally, I would also hire a copywriter to get the best results.

In regards to your competition, I feel most companies are tight with money or just oblivious to the fact that offers make you stand out. I always suggest offering something that makes you different, so in your case you can create featured bundles/packages. Place these on your homepage to stand out from everyone else

I 100% agree that it needs a ton of work. And believe it or not, I hired a designed to create this one. Clearly not a great designer. I amended it myself.

The story behind that is that I started on a shoestring budget and now gradually have been winning bigger and better customers. Today, for example, I was offered a shoot next week on one of the UK's leading brands.

So now is the time to push forward with growth because we offer something different.

Hi Paul, have you tried a platform like WOCode?
