Title says it all really. I am looking to move hosts so would like recommendations for good UK based hosts.

Currently have my Oscommerce Phoenix based store with Siteground but the renewal is very expensive compared to other hosts, so really looking for something cheaper, but still good. Just thinking it may be a good time to move as my hosting with them is still on cpanel.

Tried contacting webhostinguk.com but had a wierd chat with someone who suggested something that did not seem right when on the payment page so a bit dubious.

Any one have any good recommendations. Just looking really to change nameservers but will move fully if beneficial.

All UK hosts are terrible, some more so than others.

I use Siteground as a cheap development platform though since they seem to be the least worst of the crop. You can get around the renewal fees by just opening another account and getting another cheap year.

The only snag is that you can't transfer a site which is currently live on the other account so takes a bit of juggling.

We use Heart Internet and have 7 servers with them, which are used for a fairly high traffic website, email servers and data management system. Touch wood, to date, we haven't had many problems and they're not too expensive. I was originally with Donhost but they were a bit too expensive although as resilient as Heart. If you have any specific questions feel free to DM me.

Same founders as Vidahost (which was a good choice until they sold out). They assure me that this time they aren't going to sell up and leave us all in the hands of a terrible alternative.

I did think the same. I think this is the best of the bunch I have looked at so far. At least they got back to me when I asked a sales question which is more that some did.

Thanks for all the advice. I went with Stablepoint in the end. They migrated the website, all the databases and the email accounts. They did have a few problems as it was not on a cpanel base (siteground transferred me to their own system 2 days before from cpanel and would not hold off for a few days), but did get there in the end. So far great service and reliability.

Haha they all say that. But with hosting, enjoy it while you can, but acquisitions happening all over the place lately.

Guys at Stablehost do have a lot of experience due to running previous web hosting businesses in the past, and so that's definitely a good thing. They have a lot of talented people working there for sure.

But if you ever want to try someone new, you can give us a try. ;)
