The best and professional approach would be to go in with a full marketing campaign, get some leaflets made, do leaflet drops and do jobs with special offers to start off with Once you have worked with a few people then you will be passed around with word of mouth. Reputation is hard to build and its even harder to maintain, all the best mate.

As with anything related to business, bottom line is to organise your marketing plan for the specific area in question. Your experience in your current area means you know how this works.

The usual suspects include:

Classified ads
Local advertising in local publications
Potential email campaigns, to potential clients within the new area
Online presence for the new area
Networking events

Etc, etc. There are a variety of ways.

Utilise your experience and client testimonials and reviews to build credibility within the new area.

It's always good to see good plumbers expanding their businesses, even as competition. I myself took a long while to build up my emergency plumbing company and I can tell you, that you need a handful of good men and women who know what they are doing to play your right hand as you go about overseeing things. Especially if you're expanding your territory, you need to make sure that you have the manpower to bacl up your expansion. You don't want a situation where you don't have a back-up when more than one customer calls up for quotations. It may be prudent to forge a relatinoship with another plumber who you can trust to share business with?
