Hi

Can I suggest the best way to buy email data is to get someone to call companies and ask permission from them to email.

That way you'll get the correct contact, you'll have specific permission for you and you won't get your email address black listed.

We can do it, but so will lots of other telemarketing companies around.

Email campaigns are so tricky because the data is so fluid. If you're looking to fill an event (I'm assuming from your business name) then there are lots of companies that will actually book people in for you - without it being as expensive as you might think.

Good luck. Hope it goes well.

Hi Mike

We have done quite a few email marketing campaigns to generate client contact. My thoughts:

Best results to email out with link to a page on our site.

Give something away free at first to 'oil the wheels' of your system.

Data prices can vary significantly. EG - we can buy 6000 contacts for as little as £175. (just ordered one today).

Some data you buy will be out of date (this is normal) so have a system and/or a way to refresh/update your data; this way your data will improve.

Make sure its easy for your list to unsubscribe automatically.

If you are directing your emails to a website make the landing page easy for visitors to contact you - usually a simple contact form. That's your lead.

Best days to email out are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Hope this helps.

No legitimate email service provider or in fact ISP will allow you to use purchased lists to send email. All of them have rules against this as it is not an acceptable practice. List purchase is bad.

List Fatigue, Legal Issues, Compliance Issues, ISP Problems, ESP disconnections, blacklistings and more ensure you go to email marketing hell as a result of utilising purchased lists.

Here is what some of the leaders in the industry have to say on the topic

John Caldwell of Red Pill Email:
"You can't buy or sell someone else's permission. Buying lists is bad. Don't do it."

Al Iverson of Spam Resource and ExactTarget:
"You're talking to me because you have deliverability issues. You have deliverability issues because you're buying email addresses."

Stephanie Miller of Return Path:
"Never buy/borrow a list from any source and add data to your file. Never."
