Looking for Better Tracking than Analytics

Hello,

Like most businesses we're now advertising in all sorts of places online, but unless the enquiry/order comes directly at the point a referral, it's impossible to track.

Is there any way to see if someone came from an advert on UKBF for instance to our site, but they didn't order there and then, but they visited again coming directly to our site and ordered on that subsequent visit. On Google Analytics that would just show as a sale from someone visiting the website directly, and not reference the UKBF referral which was the point of origin.

    Hi Amy

Have you got Goals setup in GA?

When a goal is registered (sale / contact form) you can look at Goal Flow to find out the referral path.

So, if your visitor comes from a referring site, it will show that the flow as below:

    Does this help?

For a more detailed look at how and when specific users engage in your site, have a look at the recently integrated User ID feature in Analytics.
It allows you to track individual users over multiple sessions to see at which point a particular action or engagement happens; something which I think you are looking for in your Analytics.

You could set up a discount coupon for ukbf users and set the coupon code unique to this site. But don't call it discount code, coupon, etc. Because people do Google searches for codes before checking out. You should phrase it like ukbf users get 10% off

The trouble with b2b is that users don't really purchase the same day/session that they land on your site. Also a junior staff might be tasked to do the research and then email the link to a senior person to make the purchase
