Does any one know of any good payment processors preferably those that do not require a separate Internet merchant account (or can help us acquire one). We are a relatively new online retailer dealing with used and new mobile phones. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I don't work on the records/processing dept that handle applications, as I work on technical support only.

From my own personal point of view, I wouldn't see you any different to a retail store? You have the product, as long as it is listed/graded correctly and you have the stock - can't see what the problem is!

Just ask if you ring them tomorrow, they have a list of restricted/high risk sectors.

Good morning SQGuy.

Please consider Nochex (www.nochex.com). We provide both a merchant account and payment gateway in one package, and we process your application for both at the same time. Take a look at the website and if you would like to discuss any aspect of your application, please call us on 08 432 89 01 09.

Kind regards,
- Peter

Hi,
be wary of offers to good to be true, they are.
Any of the main acquirers can set you up with a MID and are partnered to all the main PSP's. If you are new and want flexibility then Realex Payments or Sage Pay would be good. Realex will give you a single point of contact so if you have any questions you just call or e-mail one person. At Elavon we insist on you having 3D Secure in place, this shifts the liability from you if there is any fraud committed, important for you as you are dealing with a product with a good resale value to a crook.

You should pay no more than 2% for online personal credit card transactions with 3D Secure, no more than about 30p if your ATV is about £100 fro debit card transactions.

This is a very simple and basic set up, as long as your website is selling just your product you should have no problems, if I can help or you would like an Elavon account setting up let me know.

Hope this helps?

Sounds promising, what kind of rates do your associated banks charge per transaction using their internet merchant accounts?

I'm afraid I've heard a lot of complaints about Nochex holding funds for 180 days, an experience which I had with PayPal and would never want again.

What website platform are you using?

Jamie

Magento 1.7 (not sure how this is relevant)

Hello SQGuy. We don't typically hold funds at all these days. Lots of our customers that have good trading histories have access to all their funds immediately. However, if you are expecting chargebacks then your supplier will charge you for this and hold back your monies. A chargeback rate above 1%, for example, is going to cause concern if that is what you expect so worth taking into consideration whoever you go with. Good luck whatever you do, Peter

We provide a low-cost Payment Gateway service which is compatible with many shopping carts and also bespoke websites. We can also assist you with obtaining the Internet Merchant Account through one of our acquiring partners and can often get you reduced rates as a result of applying via ourselves rather than approaching them directly.

Feel free to give us a call on the number below if you would be interested in discussing further.

Are you accepting any online payments at present - for example through PayPal? If not, might be a good place to start to get an idea of volumes?

Failing that, happy to speak to our payments team for you if you are getting quotes from other providers (many in this forum).

Seems fishy that 2 low post count people post within 20 mins of each other singing songs about the same company. Trustpilot.(co.uk)/review/cardsave.(co.uk) would have me singing the hell away from that one.

SQGuy, every company has those customers that post bad reviews online as Nochexman explained as well.

I can assure you we have tens of thousands of happy merchants trading with us. There are also plenty on this forum who have great experiences with us.

As for the other 2 posters that commented on Cardsave, these are not personnel/staff of Cardsave and presumably are customers with ourselves. So there is nothing fishy about them.

Good morning Jo. GC works like BACs, if you are familiar with that. I'm not sure if you can accept credit card payments using it, so you should check that out, as it would cut you out of a big chunk of payments if you can't accept credit cards.

Personally, I'm pretty reluctant to let anyone have access to my bank account so I would be unlikely to use it to pay you. Hope this helps, but do your own research!

Kind regards, Peter (I work for Nochex, which allows you to accept credit and debit cards, so I am a little biased here!)
