Looking for a new Web Hosting Reseller - again

A couple of years ago I was very luck to find Kloudhost on this site when my then current supplier Daily had gone down hill.

I had a great two years with Mike at Kloudhost who provided exceptional support. Sadly Mike recently sold the business to HostPresto. On the face ot it they have good reviews but I have found them lacking in certain areas.

Servers are slow and our websites go down. They say they have not but as we can pull them up it appears that they really have. Also support is nowhere near as good as Kloudhost.
Now I know that I wont be able to replicate that but a promise of no additional costs has only lasted two months and now they want to charge extras. I would't paying if there support was better but I just feel I am bashing my head against a brick wall.

So once again I find myelf looking for a new web reseller host.

Does anyone have any recommendations

Thanks in advance

Steve

Hey Steve. I highly recommend Jolt Hosting's Reseller package. They have a £1 offer for the first month. You'll have 1 month to try and observe the speed and performance of your websites. Their customer support is also friendly and they reply fast.

Hey Steve. I highly recommend Jolt Hosting's Reseller package.

7 of your 25 posts have been recommending Jolt and you even resurrected a thread that was several years old and buried in the murky depths of UKBF's dungeon to post your recommendation.

Is there something that we should know?

Hi Ian. Just trying to help and answer his question. As a customer of Jolt, I like the hosting. Is there something wrong with it?

Not per se but when you resurrect a thread that was last posted in two years ago to post a recommendation that is no help to the thread starter as his problem was sorted two years ago it does make people suspicious of your motives and could work the other way as it might put people off using them if they think that all is not as it should be.

I am currently looking at changing the hosting for my main site and have been put off including the company that you are promoting due to my suspicious nature

Regarding the other post, I must have missed looking at the date. I was just reading forums and I came by with that one. Usually in a forum, if the thread was solved already, additional replies to post will be closed. People make mistakes.

That is up to your decision, I am just here to post comments freely. Have a good day.

I'm in a similar situation and have been looking at different hosts over the past few weeks

I've as good as decided now that I will be going with Guru - https://www.guru.co.uk/

Main reasons why can be found on their about page - https://www.guru.co.uk/about/why-guru

    Also

I like the way they provide what they call boosts (probably a gimmicky name for what other hosts do anyway) but it looks like a simple way of allocating more resources to just one site if you have numerous in a reseller package.

I like the way they respond to emails (even if it is the sales department who want the sale)

I like the fact they are a division of UKDedicated - https://www.ukdedicated.com/

I like the fact you can pay monthly

    We shall see though

We have our own official account on UKBF where we share the odd post :) The offers we've put out have attracted quite a few customers from here over the years, infact 'UKBF' is our second most used voucher/coupon code of all time! And I know some customers are active on here and a few other communities too. That's it!

I've as good as decided now that I will be going with Guru - https://www.guru.co.uk/

Good choice - I recently benchmarked them and stress tested them, their litespeed server set up is far better than any Apache set up - much faster.

I now have about half my client sites on Guru.

I had a look at them and they charge for email as an add-on. Is this usual practice with web hosts?

The OP was asking about reseller packages - and email is in the reseller package.

For the regular accounts - I think you have a choice, email being more expensive - I can understand that as email eats up support like nothing else - thats why I dropped email from my website clients years back and advised them to go G Suite or O365.

Hosts are generally shying away from email ...

Just to add Guru have been brilliant so far.

I had trouble connecting with WS_FTP Pro, sent in a support ticket on Sunday, got two or 3 replies and even a phone call.

On Monday they actually downloaded WS_FTP Pro to test things and replicated my problem.
They then must have spent hours finding what the problem was and fixed it (looking like actually a problem with WS_FTP Pro rather than Guru)

    Now connecting fine :)

If you haven't already made a decision, I'd recommending taking a look at TSO Host (tsohost.com). They may be slightly more expensive than some of the other resellers but you definately get what you pay for with this.

The service is very good. 100% up time across more than 40 sites over the last 4 years. They also imported our CMS sites across when we joined them. As I say, not necessarily the cheapest but very reliable and dependable. Perhaps most importantly, their support people know what they're talking about and actually own the hardware.

Worth a look if you're still considering... :)

4 years is before TSOHost were bought out by HostEurope/GoDaddy. How are they now? When was the last time you contacted their support?

I have several sites with TSO Host and they deal with problems fairly quickly and effectively. I ran them all through Page Speed Insights yesterday and they were all lightning quick

@Gio1052 - 4 years is before TSOHost were bought out by HostEurope/GoDaddy. How are they now? When was the last time you contacted their support?

    I did notice a small change when they were initially purchased, but they seemed to have it 'nailed down' pretty rapidly thereafter. To give you an idea on our site's splits;

We have a VPS (6x Xeon Cores CPU, 5GB DDR4 RAM) which has around 8 individual Wordpress sets ups, including a multisite network. The sites see around 15,000 unique visitors a month but are all quite resource heavy (forums, forms, e-commerce etc) - handles all brilliantly.

We also have reseller hosting with them and currently host in the region of 45+ sites now. I haven't seen any downtime at all on any of them (we monitor), nor the VPS.

I've used support numerous times over the last couple of months - mostly for routine 'tweaks' or to install SSLs etc (one of the only frustrations, they won't let you install your own) and it's always quick to respond and very knowledgeable.

When there is a problem and it all hits the proverbial fan, I have found they're generally very quick to reply and it doesn't feel like the usual 'godaddy-esk' canned responses. It's not unusual for them to make changes to our Wordpress installation on request to help us mitigate an issue of some sort, even though this is technically not their problem!

Only keen to shout their praises as we'd tried a few other hosts before hand and constantly found the same problems which really damaged our online presence.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions about their service or our usage.

What types of sites are you hosting there Ian? Glad things are good over there though - always better to have an up to date reviews for people viewing the thread.

It's a hosting facility that allows me to host a dozen websites. I currently have about six Wordpress websites on the hosting but none of them are particularly large
