Looking for a Microsoft Access whiz

Hi All,

We are currently looking to transfer our outmoded CRM system from a basic spreadsheet to Microsoft Access (not the best I know but seems much more flexible than all the web based programs which have way too many bells and whistles for our needs). We are just looking for a basic database with c. 20 fields that has a nice simple form to enter the data and some pre-set queries that can download the data into tables or graphs.

I have a basic knowledge of access but would much prefer to pay someone a small amount to get the job done. I've posted it on freelancer, etc but most people are quoting in excess of £1,000 - way too much for what is essentially not much more than a school project.

Do you have any thoughts on where I can source someone to do this task at a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance.

Personally I would look at learning access yourself as if you are familiar with Excel it's pretty easy to get your head around and then it means you can develop it further in future without having to rely on anyone else.

If someone else develops it for you then every time you want a report or query added or changed you will have to get the cheque book out.

Hmm...not sure what you mean by all the 'bells and whistles' but to add/edit/delete a record with 20 fields along with basic reports should be pretty simple using any technology.

Personally, I would still go with a simple web-based solution as it will be future proof. PM me if you want a second opinion on the web based solution.

There should be all sorts of solutions already out there on the web that cost a relatively small amount of money. Ideally those $10/month sorts of packages should do the trick.

However, yeah - doing it in Microsoft Access should be fairly simple. A person with reasonable skill in MS Access should be able to move 20 fields from Excel to Access in 1-2 hours, and the complexity you speak of is at yet undefined, but a vague estimate for one simple report would be around an hour.

With lots of computer companies charging let's say £65/hr as an industry average, even 10 hours worth of work would still only be £650 , and I bet you could give someone £200 to do it all for you too!

Or, if you learned Access yourself, there are a load of wizards that should let you do it too! But if it's something you don't want to get bogged down in then I can understand that!
