good evening,

Firstly I apologise if this thread is being posted in the wrong location, I am new to the site and couldn't locate any design related sections.

My question is regarding logo design. I will keep it simple. I have developed a new concept and I want a professional logo designed that represents it appropriately. It is a food business. All I am after is a few suggestions for designers, preferably ones that people on here have used themselves.

My research tells me that these £25 offers for 5 or 6 designs are pants, but I do not want to be paying more than £200 as I believe compared to most it will not be a difficult logo to visualise and create. The nature and USP of the concept are very simple.

Thanks to all in advance for your time,

Max

Hi Max,

I would certainly agree that while the £25 ones are pants, £200 won't cover the cost of a morning with an agency.

We can help you out with a logo and talk you through our process for this, including research of your brand and your competition, but our prices start at £499 for a logo.

Let me know if we could be of any assistance.

It is very hard to choice a logo designer purely based on cost as there are a wide range of logo designers / websites out there.

When I looked for a logo there was two things I looked at

- Budget (you need to be able to afford it)
- How versatile is it. What I mean by that if you have the world best logo but you can not print it onto any promotional merchandise or it will cost the earth to print onto it then maybe its not that good. Also how easy is it for you to change to suit to places you might want it example: social media profile, website, eshot, email ect....

Just two things I looked at, and if that mean spending a little bit more money to get what suits and you can us then it might be worth it. Think of it was a investment. Your logo is going to be the face of your company / website and the first, last thing people.

Just my thoughts.

Thank you for the replies, I agree that the logo is the face of the business and I know branding is a key element of marketing. I'm sure people understand though that for small businesses £500 on a logo is pretty substantial.

Does anyone have particular suggestions company wise? My initial post highlights the nature of my request. Having looked at it again perhaps I may have to bump up from £200 a tad but £500 is not an option.

Thanks again

I would recommend sitting down with a local designer as there are so many types of logos and styles, it can be a pain to get the right one, so sitting down with someone local with enable you too get the brief 100% right.

Yeh we're a little far away.

I've just had a check on Dribbble but there is only one designer from Dorset and she's a photographer.

£499 may seem a lot, but there is a lot included within that. You'd get all your branding done in that price, so letterhead, comp slips, business card, that sort of thing.

I would certainly expect to sit down with a designer and you want to be discussing ideas, directions, feelings, rather than specific things such as colours and fonts. Let your designer design that. It's why you are paying them.

Good luck!

Thanks for the messages guys, and perhaps I was a little naive in my initial approach to creating the logo for my business.

I will evaluate things from a financial perspective and be in touch. I'm only 22 and I'm juggling a full time finance job, a home degree and setting this up so that needs to be sorted first!!

Cheers

Designing logos for clients remotely can indeed present difficulties..but then given a designer cannot realistically design a logo on the spot it's also unlikely that a design that results from a face to face brief will be any less subject to revisions than a tight brief discussed via the telephone/ email.
