Thanks for the ideas and feedback, I adjusted the logo slightly to make it all one 'item' on post 23

I'll repeat my key question:
Does your logo tell people what your business does?

If you're established / have a large marketing budget / well known in the business sector you're in, your logo can be anything. Yes, you can have a random logo, market it effectively and do well. But as a start up, on a small-ish budget, I see no point in making life more difficult for yourself by taking this route and wasting your own times, resources and energy by designing a logo that does not portray what your business does, and then having to explain to all of us what the logo actually means. A PC logo is a classic image - perhaps even boring - but it saves you having to explain what your business does.

That said, designing a logo that people will remember you by is equally important. That logo could be pretty much anything, providing that the association of the logo to your business + its sector is made quickly by the customer. Yours does this for me. I remember the logo, and if I see it again, I know what it's about.

In your case, having the text below the logo goes some way to doing this - but I still can't help but feel that it needs something else. That's just my opinion, though.

Best of luck.

I personally like test banner 1 however i do echo what others have said about the relevence of the logo. Also the logo is really rather large and will take up a lot of page real estate without really telling people what you're about. You'd be best off reducing the width some how by 50% and integrating the name of your business fully. By using one of the others which use a black background, i already get the impression that the site is going to have a very... 80's feel to it! Have you considered getting a logo designer to create something professional and unique for you? There was a member on here offering free logos recently, so perhaps get something from someone who is looking to increase their portfolio.

Why not have a mouse with wings?, a mouse is possibly/probably the most iconic image that says "PC"

I'm with the don't like it brigade I'm afraid. If you are using the wings as a "PC Angel" type image, your miles from achieving this.

In my opinion, if you are tying to do this, then extend the "A" to above the wings (keeping the A's feet at the same level) add a halo and have a mouse and its lead under the "A"'s "feet" if you see what I mean.

Hi Adam,

I like the fact that you've used the A for Adam in the wings, and agree with above posts that you need a strapline to connect the wings to what you do. If you're going down the lines of being a computer angel, guardian angel etc then that's fine and relevant and fits well.

Basic Design 1 has too much of a 'glow' to it and Basic Design 2 is too 'rock'! Test Banner 1 is nice and safe but I think Test Banner 2 gives you better stand out. Agree that if you're going to put your opening hours on there, you need to put your closing hours too. You maybe want to reduce the size of the wings a little, or give more space around the top and the left side of the banner.

Hope this helps and good luck,
Anna

My point is made. :) It looks like it's borrowed from something. And that is not good for building a trustworthy brand. Adam, there's a great deal of useful advice on this thread, please at least consider. :)

There are influences from other logos, not copied, not adapted. As you are a logo designer you must know that inspiration comes in different forms.

The point of the logo is to be different.

A mouse with wings? It's not for a pet cemetery. A halo? It's not religious and that I think is blasphemous(e)! (Sic)

I remind you that the a in there is for adam, and I will be using this design for other purpose later, so it is universal not only for the computer services sector.
