I have had an offer of

I just wanted to confirm to you the special offer on LogMeIn Rescue that we have going:

The online price for 1 annual subscription to LogMeIn Rescue is:

£699 paid upfront or £65 paid monthly by credit card

I can offer you the following promo price good until the end of the month:

£499 paid upfront or £48 paid monthly by credit card

You can pay for the annual subscription in full by bank wire or credit card or opt to pay for it monthly by credit card.

Does any one else get it cheaper does any one know if there is room for negotiation ?

Hi

It doesn't require anything to be installed, but when you visit the site it asks you to run a small executable which then allows the remote control.

The price that they have given you is the standard "offer" price when they call you. I must get one of these calls every month, with that price "until the end of the month".

I hope this helps,
Many Thanks

Leo

my god if they have figured out how to take control of a machine just by visiting a site thats amazing and scary

Been around for ages, for example Teamviewer is built on VNC.

Client visits web page and clicks link, VncSC (Single Click) Server is run on Client Machine or VNC Java Applet is run in the clients browser, Applet or VNCSC reports into a VNC Repeater on port 443. Person running listener conencts to repeater on 443 and gains control of client machine.

It is not seamless, if using Single Click Client user has to click a link, if using Java Applet user has to click to accept installation of applet in their browser.

This is the technique I use to support servers behind routers/firewalls and it cost nothing. :)

Here's a free one http://www.zolved.com/remote_control, no way I'd fork out for logmein.

I like logmein rescue, just which they would offer a per incident license. I occasionally have a need to connect to a clients computer when they are, how should I put this – erm not that great with computers so logmein rescue is perfect. But I just can’t justify the expense for about occasional uses! Be nice to be able to buy a license to using on a daily basis or just a simple per incident.
