Hi
Since our inception in 2005 we have strived to give children the best chance in life through Angling based education .
Since the cut backs which have hit hard here in thr North East we have gone from 15 children a week to maybe one a week all this is down to funding cuts and loss of staff .
Is it not better to see kids doing something usefull with their free time instead of hanging about on the streets
ALL we ask is that you have a look at the press story and see if you can offer some help in the form of sponsorship or donations or even something that we can auction off

NB we all do this for free
Please use the Northern Echo to read our story
under search put fishing charity and click on fishing charity on the verge of closing
THANK YOU

It might be better to show what the advertisers get out of it - Theres a million places I can use my money to advertise so you really do need to sell yourself or the idea to someone...

I understand its for a charity however there are many many charities out there all vying for peoples money - what makes you stand out? Why should people give you there money?

Hi
Ok in reply to your question it is very simple to answer when money was in plenty for the groups involved in dealing with the sort of children we set up for it was fine . Due to the cut backs in Funding for these departments jobs went and the belt was tightened . this resulted in taking children to places that didnt cost anything . they also had their budget cut for food so if you took out a group you could not buy them a meal . for some of those kids it was the only meal they got .
so with staff cut backs and a lack of funding projects like ours suffered at £10 per person for 5 hrs teaching it was too much for them and sending us up to 15 children a week had to stop .
we still try to give those who make it something to eat even if its just a sandwich and a hot drink .
we all do this for free to help those who need it but you casn only do so much with a £1 ...i hate to say this but every little helps we feel that if we can get past this year then things may get better at the end of the day its the children who suffer . with no place to go during the day they are back out on the streets .
we hope this answers your question

Hi gemd89 thanks for that post . sorry it has taken so long to get back to you but we are trying everything we have and know to stay afloat . what we offer is fishing & education they also learn about life and wild life we instill in them life skills WHY the sort of children that we take and its only a small amount around 30% of those who come to us . these kids are the worst in the uk no one wants thenm or will deal with them i am unable to tell you of the crimes these kids have commited but they all have something in common they are all under 16 from troubled homes or back grounds involved with Drugs or Drink sometimes both and all are involved in Crime .. we cant help everyone but as a small charity set up through necessity has showen it works . those who help us get coverage through the web site as well as their web site printed on ther banners we use at the shows . we do around 15 a year but this year we have done nothing and may well only get to do 2 due to cost if we can stay afloat for this year then i feel things may get better they cant get any worse CAN THEY

Hi Tom

Firstly I'd like to say that I think that what you are doing is fantastic. I go fishing on a regular basis, Lake, river and sea (not so much the fly fishing though). I don't think people understand how much satisfaction you can get from it and how relaxing it can be(apart from that monster fish getting away), not to mention what you can learn about the area your fishing.

Without being patronising and please don't take this out of context, I'd like to ask you a few questions and maybe offer some ideas etc.

Do you have an arrangement with local fishing authorities?
Are you a member of the local fishing forums?
Do you supply all the equipment?
How often do you need to replace equipment?
Do you have your own private fishing grounds or do you take the kids to different locations?
Are you providing the transport, clothing, food etc?
Do you have many donators? Do you give them a chance to come along and see what their donations are achieving?
How many staff do you have?
Do you get volunteers helping with the teaching?
Is it just fly fishing you teach?
Did you say you are only tutoring one person due to funding or have I read the post wrong?
Could you tell me more about the events you host, where they are held, what goes on etc?
Where are you based?

Many thanks

Dave
