Lloyds bank working with Paypal and getting new expiry data

My wife never uses paypal for a years and had a renewed credit card about two months ago

Today she received a paypal email stating her card had been updated, she checked and found out the new expiry date had automatically updated by paypal

On checking on other forums it appears that LLoyds undates paypal with this data without informing the customer and not asking for permission

I would have thought this is a breach of privacy and against the GDPR regs

I assume that this was a credit card that she linked to her paypal account? If so then I would bet she has already given them permission to communicate in regard to this card via the T&C she agreed to.

Plus your LLoyds fine print presumably gives them the same rights to share your data. Probably also you will find that the card belongs to the bank - it just has your name on it.

Adobe and Mcafee get automated card updates from Visa & MasterCard. a few years ago i didnt bother ending my account with Mcafee after they sent me loads of warnings that my card had expired and my account would be canceled if i didn't update it, however when the time came they just took the fee from my card. Apparently there are trusted companies that get card updates from the providers.

The AA do the same. I had my annual renewal taken by them from a new card from which I had given them no details.
