Livedrive Resellers

Anyone out there a live drive reseller?

Thinking of signing up to the white label service and wondered if it was actually any good? Not really bothered about making money on it - just want to offer it to an existing customer base as a free bonus.

We don't re-sell Livedrive, but I would think twice before just offering these types of service as freebies. If a customer doesn't pay anything for a service they are less likely to see any value in it, and you could end up devoting resources to client setup and answering customer questions for no tangible reward. You may be better off charging a price that is good value for money, which would weed out those who are just subscribing to the service because it is a freebie.

I hope this helps

The Company I work for currently re-sell live drive (although not using the white label option that you mention).

I personally think the Livedrive product is great value product, especially for a reseller - but one thing you should be careful of is that (as far as I am aware) Livedrive resellers are responsible for providing the technical support to their own customers (and this does happen fairly often) - so I wouldn't go giving away thousands of free or cheap copies if you don't then have the support capability to provide any after care - as otherwise it could have a negative impact on your Company reputation?

Hope this helps...

We will be giving it away free (to existing customers of one of our products) of charge so will be offering limited support for this. We do plan on producing some videos on how to set up, use and deleat files from the system and we have an existing forum that offers tips and advice.

Hi All, noticed your discussion here.

I am currently a Livedrive White Label reseller, however in order to pursue other business interests, need to give it up.

I have a fully functioning website, video tutorials, automatic payment integration with PayPal etc.

If you are considering starting off with White Labelling Livedrive, this would really kick start your project, it's actually a lot of effort to replace all texts & images and setup rss feeds, blogs etc.

I also have an application that enables you to sell a reseller account! Your reseller customers can log in and create backup accounts for their own customers.

For the techies: website is based on Drupal (PHP), reseller application is based on MS Lightswitch (Silverlight). Both of these technologies are aimed at the 'above average user' ability, not developer ability, so you can add to and change as needed.

If you are interested please PM me or email me.

I'm a livedrive customer, their support is $hit and I lost some files they couldnt recover (great for a backup service heh?) which fortunately I had backed up to DVD.

Avoid.

There is an important point here that I always try to impress on our customers no matter what type of backups they use. Always try restore tests. You never know when things like this will turn around and bite you.

2nd that - we were both W/L and branded parnters at no small cost and the software is a sack of junk. Put it on something with constantly changing files (mail server, Web server where weblogs are being written) and it goes into a constant loop taking Windows snapshots to back the files up, in one case filling the disk and crashing a customers' server.

Livedrive didn't care, not one tiny bit....

Had the exact same issue. Uploads were very slow. Support took days, even weeks to get back to us.

Best bit is once a month they just cleared out there ticket list saying the had a fault and lost them. Obvisouly getting thousands of tickets they couldnt answer.

They offered no flexibility with refunds on an addon we purchased.

I've tried review sites but they seem to focus on price and features and not on service which is very important to me. I guess you never discover until something goes wrong......

Any views on MozyPro?

Most companies would offer you a trial, Take advantage of the offer and test it out for yourself, Do lots of backups do lots of restores, Quiz the support team, You'll quickly be able to see the levels of service your likely to get.

A backup is only as good as its ability to be restored successfully!

And now its rubbish. LiveDrive support is a bloody joke even if your a reseller!

We are dumping Livedrive and will be looking to move all customers over to new platform! or set up our own.

We sell a number of Hosted / Cloud / Online services - Get so many offers for online services with "Cheap" buy prices but I am more interested in what support I get as a reseller and knowing that I am not going to be let down . I have used Cloudmore www.cloudmore.com now for over 12 months and really impressed with the support etc. They provide us with Iron Mountain (Autonomy) online back up solutions. I am more reassured putting customers data with multi-million pound companies in their own data centers than with companies that set up online services and rent space in data centres.

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned MozyPro - has anyone on the forum had any experience with using it?

Now that Mozy is owned by EMC (probably one of the biggest storage companies globally) - I would have hoped that the "Pro" version of the Mozy product would be pretty good? I have seen it being marketed at quite a few events and seminars, and it looked like they were trying to come up with a product more geared towards professional usage.

It would be quite interesting to hear any feedback.

The best thing to do it try it. It's always a good idea to actually speak to them to see what sort of support they provide. Also try some fairly decent sized backups and restores just to get the feel for the system and try out various of it's functionality. Just because they are part of EMC does not necessarily mean that YOU will get good support when you call or that it's the best product. It's a bit like expecting BT to be the best at everything because they are the biggest. It doesn't always work like that.

Thanks for the feedback Lee - always appreciated - and I will probably try out the MozyPro product very soon - but I was just wondering if there was anyone out there who already had any experience with it?

I think the reason I had any reservations about MozyPro at the moment is just that it may take EMC a little while for their development teams to bring the product up to their usual high standards.

Much like we are seeing here with Livedrive, the feedback from existing customers can sometimes be much more telling than the info I will be able to gather during my trial!

I have not used it myself other than for comparison purposes but I have heard of similar support issues to those experienced by Livedrive users. The product itself is good but what really shows the strength is when you really need support and can't get it. But I would not expect you to take my word for it as they are the competition!

Hi All

just to add some balance to the slating, I've been using livedrive as a reseller and a 'customer' for over a year now.

As a reseller you get a phone number, the guys seem to know what they are talking about, and the more complex problems they get back to me the next day.

As for it being 'slow', I'm not sure what people are expecting, but when I use it on my server (with a 10MB connection to the internet) it seem to upload files at around 5-7 MB/s, which I don't think is slow at all. Far exceeds what most people internet connections can do.

Online backup is a commodity market now. There is too much competition and little profit. Reselling online backup service usually does not work well. The profit margin is very thin, the commission rate is low, and the service price is also low, so a reseller can barely make any money.

While sometimes viewed as an online backup or online storage provider, DriveHQ is in a different market. We are the first Cloud IT Solution provider. For SMBs, our service can replace their in-house file server, FTP server, email server, web server, share point server, backup system, etc. We can save SMBs a lot of money. Whether you are an SMB or a reseller, you should look for a reputable company that offers high quality service and support. Please visit drivehq.com website for more information.
