If you use windows messenger you can embed messenger chat into your webpage, we've been trialling it for a few months, to be honest it's not proved very popular as a contact channel (people still prefer to e-mail or call) but the times it has been used it's worked really well. The customer doesn't need windows messenger installed, it just loads a browser based chat client if they click to chat with you.

It's pretty basic and obviously there are better chat clients aimed at the customer service type role but if you just want to dip your toe in water and see if it's something customers would use then it may be worth a look.

Google "embed live messenger" for more info.

well there are many free live chats but when you think of E Comm business i will suggest spend few dollars for chat as chat is one of the important feature of your website.
Try checking Star develop chat. They charge you a nominal fee for multiple domains. And the chat comes with many feaures like ip tracking, visitor tracking and many more
Best of luck buddy

Livezilla works for me and my clients. Great logs, geo tracking, push option, co-browse option. Best of all it is free.

pd2006 - if you have websites then they are already on a server. just ftp to upload the appropriate files and run the setup.

Hope this helps
