Hi i want to list my past customers on my website, now i know using their logo or writing their name in their format and text is not acceptable as that could be trademarked by them.

What i was thinking was just using a generic font so something like this:

Our business has been trusted by many UK organisations over the years such as:

Business 1
Business 2

etc

So just using the generic arial or standard font and black colour. I do have past contracts to back up the fact i provided my services to them so i would only be listing companies i have worked for.

Now i have them all listed on linkedin and there is no issue with listing my full work history there, but for my website is this acceptable ?

now i know using their logo

Are you sure? I think it may be allowed in this context - any experts reading?

You could ask their permission - you probably should in any case to keep them happy.

Why would having it on your website be any different?

That's what I am curious about, LinkedIn is an online CV for everyone and that uses companies logos, so I don't see an issue if I list past customers without their logo in generic text and only for those that I have a past contract with so I have the contract paperwork incase any queries are raised.

Alot of the companies I have worked for are quite large and I have not had a great response rate from, some have said yes, some no but mostly I have not had a response and those emails were sent about two months ago.

So I am curious if it is illegal to do what I am proposing or if I would get into hot water. What do you all reckon?

Obviously asking them is the first course of action

it’s likely to depend on confidentiality and visibility

our customers would be pretty pissed if if we listed them without permission (pretty mixed permissions given). However they are unlikely to be concerned revealing who supplies their stationery.

There are no confidentiality or nda's it's basically me saying my business has provided IT services to xyz, no listing of exactly what was provided just me saying I have provided services to them which is true, it's all it related services.
