This seems to apply only to the legal category which means when you click on the last message you're taken right to the beginning of the thead rather than to the contributors message.

When one first enters the forums one can see the latest postings in the various categories. If you click on the last posting shown I don't get taken to that posting but to the first posting of the OP. This only seems to apply to the legal category.

I’ve just checked and clicking on the link takes me to the last post in a thread in the legal category.

This link which is supposed to be that of the last posting in Time Out on ****** assets takes me straight to the first posting by @The Byre and not to the one shown :
https://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/...ning-out-to-be-rat-poison-again.420968/unread

Ok I can see where the issue may lie. The last posting entry tells me that @japancool made a posting 12 minutes ago but what the heading is actually referring to is the fact that @japancool viewed the thread 12 minutes ago.

And so the link description has nothing to do with a posting but rather a viewing - which is odd behaviour.

Interesting, I'm not sure why that would be the case. So far as I'm aware, we haven't made any adjustments to the feed that would change this.
I'll table some time early next week to dissect a little more. Thanks for flagging this to us. ?

You can also see that the link purportedly for the last messsge 181 in the time-out section is really a link to messsge 1.

More ****** companies turning out to be rat poison again!

The links are currently set up to take you to the first "unread" post within the thread.

This means that if you have never opened the thread before, the system will take you to the original post.

At any point after that, you'll be jumped straight to the first post you have not yet seen personally.

This appears to be the intended functionality of the platform, but I can understand the confusion. If you click on a link for the last post in the thread, you'd expect to be taken to the last post in the thread.

Now that we've identified what is happening here, I'll schedule some time to speak with the development team about whether or not we can finesse this functionality any further. Unfortunately, this isn't something we're likely to jump on right away.

This thread might go quiet for a while, but I will keep you up to date.

Thanks - it seems you have thought of everything. It is good to allow the user to see who has posted the last message but not so intuitive to then send the user to the first post- which then requires the user to scroll through all the messages to get to the message which was the carrot in the first place!

It is something which may need to be re-considered - if 8 out of 10 say it's a damn nuisance (or the opposite) then that would provide a steer.

The logic of obliging the user to first read the OP's original message is not a bad idea provided the user wants to read it first.

Completely agree.

I'll be passing the feedback on to the development team.
