My name is Ruby Miller. I've just visited your website r*******.com and I was wondering if you'd be interested in exchanging links with my website. I can offer you a HOME PAGE link back from 3 of my Clothing and Fashion websites which are:

http://www.business-escrow.com/ with page rank 3 http://www.cellsoflife.com/ with page rank 2 http://www.ancientprints.com/ with page rank 2

If you are interested, please add the following information to your website and kindly let me know when it's ready. I'll do the same for you in less than 24 hours, otherwise you can delete my link from your site.

Title: You Must Create
URL: http://www.glassboutique.co.uk/catalog/ymc-xa-41.html
Description: You Must Create designer clothing available online from Glass Boutique.

I hope you have a nice day and thank you for your time.

Best regards;

Ruby Miller

Hi,

I received exactly the same email but with different site names, more related to our blogs. And from a different person.

I wasn't too sure either, and also not entirely sure about the benefits of reciprocal links these days?

I'll be eagerly watching this post!

Ignore. Not worth even replying. I get shed loads of these every week and all get hoiked straight into the junk mail folder.

Susan, this sort of reciprocal link offers no benefit to anyone and there certainly isn't and SEO value.

<edit>Worst than that, the sites are link farms which can actually hurt your ranking. very long barge pole required</edit>

well said .... Google hates link farms and like fisicx said can damage page rank -- best to aim for lots of inbound links from other good sites :)

Avoid all emails of this nature like the plague. 9 times out of 10, they won't be linking back to you from the website they want you to link to and the sites they will link to you from will be part of a link farm. If and once Google identify your association to these link farms, there is a high chance your site could be penalised in the search engines.

These emails are mass distributed using automated link partner software, hundreds get sent out to websites with an email address associated to them.

Thanks zigojacko.

I've just started being forwarded these emails and it's tricky deciphering the genuine offers of content exchanges from this mass distributed rubbish. I think that contributing content on a "guest blog" basis to well ranking and relevant websites is the best way forward. For me at least!
