Hi all, i wonder if anyone could give me some advice on what liability insurance do i need for my business please? I am an interior designer and i obviously work in clients's houses which sometimes involves fittings and installations.
I would appreciate your kind help.
Many thanks

There are a few areas you need to consider, and a good insurance broker will be able help:

1. Public Liability - this covers damage to people or property through your negligence
2. Employers Liability - this is only needed if you are going to employ anyone, but covers injury to employees through your negligence
3. Professional Indemnity - this covers you against claims arising from your advice.

if you need a hand you can find me at www.lockyers.co.uk

Lockyer has covered most of the main points you need to consider.

With regards to the Professional Indemnity - we do have access to specialist 'Designer' policies which have been specially written for the trade and include things such as the source and supply of products (E.G. if it later turned out the product supplied was clearly not appropriate for the task it was required to perform).
