Hi, I have a few sites which I would like to setup an autoresponder for and would appreciate some advice on what is required of me.

After some research the things I have found is to clearly state on your site you will not use their emails for anything other than the intended use (sending newsletters).

A confirmation link to ensure they want to sign up.

An unsubscribe link.

An address on the emails - I have been looking into a p.o box from the post office but am not sure if this is suitable or acceptable or if there is a better solution. I am hesitant to give out my home address as I have family here.

I have also seen It mentioned you should sign up with the information commisioner's office as a data processor. I am not sure if this is necessary when I plan to only collect first name and email?

Are there any other points to consider?

I am a soletrader if this makes any difference to any of the above points.

Thanks

Why not set up through something like MailChimp? It's pretty good at sending regular emails to clients, you can set it to send after X amount time I believe. It should cover you legally - and they have a pretty decent free version!

cheers James. I have looked at aweber and mail chimp and they seem as if they aill cover my first 3 points, but I am still uncertain if a p.o box will suffice or if a different method is better.

I am also uncertain if I need to sign up under data protection and if I can have a u.s based email company if I am collecting emails from worldwide. I saw somthing about personal data has to be held in on servers in the eu if you collect data from people in the eu
