Hi all,

I have just joined and could do some with some help, please!

We began legal action against Paypal through the Small Claims Court on 6 September. This was acknowledged by the Courts and the company representing Paypal themselves.

They decided to change their name on 16 September to a number (5468033 Limited). They subsequently sent a letter to both the Courts and ourselves with a request to strike off as the claim should no longer be valid as they were no longer Paypal UK Limited.

My question is, whether court action would be still be valid. The Small Business team stated yes, but they were not legally trained.

Yes court action should be valid, a company is bound by its company number which never changes. Their name change after the fact is ridiculous and will get them nowhere. The courts system will not look at their actions very well.

5468033 was incorporated in 2005 so it's the same company, just a different name.

They are joking! It is the same company and the company house records show that.
