Left mouse click not working

Got a Acer laptop and the left mouse click is not always working,any advice on how to rectify this or is it time to use a USB mouse

Possibly a hardware fault m8, how old is the laptop ?

Probably 3 maybe 4 years, reluctant to buy a new one as it comes out on site with me, probably gets dusty inside, I guess a keyboard clean may help?

Is the mouse part of the keyboard or does it have a touchpad with mouse buttons ?

If you are feeling brave you could take the case apart and see if you can fix it, or switch the mouse functions so the right mouse button becomes the left and set either double tap on the touchpad as your right click or set tap zones (if possible) to setup right click.

verify if some application was recently installed. Main attention to any mouse pointer personalization, new antivirus or activities monitor - the ones that records what you type or click.

Gave it to my brother in law to open up and investigate thanks

It's unlikely to be a software problem although a driver update or rollback can often fix this issue. If you're often in dusty environments it's worth investing in an aerosol air blower. This will safely clear any sand or grit from the contacts without having to dismantle the whole laptop. Be careful not to be too trigger happy 'tho, especially around the motherboard.
