Leaflet Drops: Do They Realy Work?

We have now got on top of the SEO Side of the business with the site creation and establishment, and are now working on building up website design/development side of the business.

I understand a lot of the work is local business and we have built a system which allows the quick creation of websites templated to a clients needs (and providing a CMS login for all).

What I am looking for is 3 things:

1. What sort of response rate would be expected from a leaflet drop to business's, selling a cheap brochure website / full bespoke website creation service? Ideally as a percentage (im expecting it to be quite low)

2. Im sure you can outsource the leaflet drop, but how do you pick a good company who isnt just going to throw xxxx leaflets in the bin before they get in the hands of potential clients.

3. Is there any designers out there with experience of developing such leaflets, and potentially a website design for the website to match the leaflets, and potentially providing us designs for clients sites.

I am a firm believer in the seperation of developer / designer producing better results for the client, a stable website with the looks the client requires. You only need to look at any site i have designed to see the problems of a developer doing designs - and i can find many examples of a designer doing the developing. I am yet to find one good all rounder!

HI

I have actually just started a leaflet distribution business and although I can't answer all the questions I can help a little.

Response is usually quite low normally between 0.01 - 2%. However, it is a lot cheaper usually then advertising in press etc. Also many companies do it just once and when they do not get a massive reponse dont bother again. However, one of my clients will do an area and then 6 weeks later do it again as some people may not need the service at the time but may later and it also keeps your name in there mind if they see it regularly.

In terms of finding a reputable supplier it is hard as there are no guaranteed reponses etc. Look for companies with recommendations or use a couple as a trial. The best way to track is through your leaflet. Make sure there is some kind of offer or code something that you can ask about when people call. These also tend to have better reponses than ones that just we are X and do Y.

Also you could ask your distributor where they have delivered or give them some set places and then you can ring and check they have been delivered or see if you have received reponses from them.

Hope this helps a little bit.

Regards
Vicki
