Leaflet Distribution - London

V

Vacman2000

There's always loads of discussion about what leaflet companies are reliable etc and who you can trust. Therefore I've created a whitepaper that explains all the points that you should look for and what questions you need to ask your prospective leaflet partner. You can get it here

http://www.theleafletdeliverycompan.../how-to-choose-your-leaflet-delivery-company/
This is probably not your area, but can you tell me how many leaflets go in this post code CR7 all sectors

if i was you. i would advertise in gumtree for leaflet distributors.. only way to be sure is keep a check on... otherwise all companies promising dont deliver at all. so its better to use local advertisers... specially if u are going to do it in september use Students.. specially if u r near universities.. also it will give u exposure in universities...

as an owner of a distributio business in the east midlands I will say always do your homework. A company cannot offer solus distribution for £25 a thiusand. It takes between 8 and ten hours to deliver 1000 leaflets so this would eqauate to £2.50 an hour. No one would work for this, and yet you have to remember the company will also take a cut. Most will be thrown away.
We offer shared for £25 a thousand but that can be your leaflet with 3 others. I am not touting for business as we only run in the east midlands I am just sending some honest advice.
Always do your homework, look on google at review sites see what others have to say about the company. A good company will also ask for a deposit and the rest after work is complete, not all upfront.

Hope this helps.

another good thing to note is chweck the terms and conditions. Don't use a company that subcontracts. We have been contacted by these companies asking us to do 1000 for £20, yet we know from one of our new customers that the company was infact charging £75.00 per thousand. This i feel is disgusting. Believe me though there are companies out there who will do a good job but always as with anything do your homework

Hi,

Your so very right to be concerned about the reliability of these companies; Royal Mail included.

Once your over that hurdle it can be a responsive channel c. 0.05% depending on the creative used: typically for London i use Royal Mail household distribution and pay c.£40cpt based on an under 10g item and can get items delivered within 3 weeks usually.

Then your just reliant on the postman doing his job properly - with royal mail as long as you have proof of error you will be able to claw back a few pounds usually just a token gift.

My advice Royal Mail all the way in London and avoid blocks of flats as the items are often misplaced.

Good luck with it

It is normally £40/1,000+vat which is not the cheapest, but it is done properly, rather than the leaflets being dumped somewhere. For 10,000 or more, I can offer a discount, bringing the price down to £35/1,000.

P.S. I assume that is you, Vernon. We met a few weeks ago outside Sanderstead station when I saw Adrian Noble if you remember!;)

Hi Peter.
Yes it is me Vernon
This was just my point I was getting to.

Thornton Heat the entire CR7 postcode takes 13061 leaflets, the last time i physically counted them, then you have the doors which say no leaflets, junk mail and no newspapers, I havent counted them out of the 13061. but in Balham the figure is 38% now lets say its 15% without counting which is 1959 leaflets minus this from 13061 = 11102

Your figure of 17000 in CR7 which make a diffrence of 5898 which is a cost of approx £210.00 provided every leaflet is delivered, properly, but my estimation you are likely to lose anything from 10-30% if the teams are not fully supervised. Now if you drop 40k a week you are looking losing over £1000.00 per week, at these rates, plus your prining cost.

The postcode data I have indicates 17,121 households in CR7.
An older postcode count shows 16,631.
Of course I understand that some of them will be locked flats etc, but I was responding to the question of how many households there are. Any remaining leaflets would be delivered to houses right next to the area.

Hi Peter
This is not a pop at you personally, it is directed to the industry as a whole.
It is not what it indicates, but what is deliverable, which makes a diffrence to our bottom line. If it was as easy as that to just payout £35.00 a thousand I would have them put out 250 k every week and watch the money roll in, but it is not like that because of the companys themself first there is a 50% over calculation in what is quoted goes in a post code, because I can only get 11102 in that post code, then the distributors, some of them are not going to deliver them properly.

You could try our website we distribute across west london and the royal borough of kensington and chelsea...... with MEGA cheap prices:eek:
Letterboxangels.webs.com

Its not Mega cheap prices I want or need.
Its MEGA results, however after 25 years of leafleting, even when you have the distributors under close supervision the job still does not get done 100%
What methods of distribution do you use?

Cheap leaflet delivery is not good. Good leaflet delivery is not cheap.

I can't speak for the whole of the UK, but on average in the West Midlands it can take one person approx. 6-7 hours to deliver 1000 leaflets. The minimum wage is £6.08 an hour, so for six hours work you would expect to pay someone a minimum of £36.48 to deliver them. On top of that, you need to have a system in place to ensure the job is being done properly.

So, anyone who trys to tell you they will deliver your leaflets
a) on their own
and
b) in full
for less than £50 per 1000 is either working illegally or will not do the job properly.
