Leadership Development - a worthy investment or a waste of time?

I am conducting research on Leadership Development (LD) as seen through the eyes of organisational leaders/ managers. I would appreciate if you could share your views on LD.

1. Why invest in LD?
2. What return do you expect to gain from your investment in LD?
3. Is the LD you have invested in meeting your expectations?

Many thanks,

Natalia

Why Invest?

The control is defined as environment at top in very simple words and leader or managers the one that is responsible for controls, whether financial or managerial, therefore LD will address the gaps in the understandings of the control environment and also produce effective methods for establishing the controls over the functions of the organization. Finding best candidate to seat the top will require pretty much scanning and this research will aid the screening process in best way.

i like your question:) LD is very important specially for the youth of world. The leadership is an intentional influence on entire society but without formal authority. We should encourage those who develop leader in themselves.
Many firms invest in introducing a leadership development program for high-potential employees in good times. This is beneficial as it changes the environment in positive way.
Thank you

Hi, Natalia!

What do you mean invest in LD ? Rising salary ? Believe me, money is not the only way to motivate someone. Besides it's often not the best way.
So, as for me, investing in LD is a waste of resources. You'd better work on your idea and thus attract people so that they have feeling they are changing the world.
