Lead Generation websites

A

Andrew @ PLA

Does anybody on here use lead generation websites to grow the business? I've looked at ServiceStart and was wondering if (a) anybody uses this? AND (b) there are any other good sites out there?

Thanks in advance :)

www.freeindex.co.uk seems the best one!

Gemma

This is an LBL (local business listing) and in my experience the lead volume is low.

If you want an LBL go for Bview.co.uk ... actually just get both. They're free.

Try also; brownbook, touchlocal, foursquare, facebook, twitter, hotfrog, welovelocal, yell

Yell are a pain in the arse but they do send traffic.

The term "lead" is horribly misused.

As a classicaly trained sales guy and having liked the Customer Centric Selling programme more than most others, there is only ever a "lead" if there is a need. In other words, if someone doesn't have a problem (B2B) or desire (B2C, then you're unlikely to sell to them without a whole stack or work. And often the work isn't worth putting in.

Clicks aren't leads. Names in a list aren't leads, unless you've established those people have a need. Meetings may not be leads, unless you know that a need is motivation them meeting you.

The Twitter Sales Leads tool discovers people tweeting a need for what you do on Twitter. Not all may be leads because it's nigh on impossible to match a need every time, but the overall rate of potentials is fairly high.

This is what I define as a lead.

Impression = someone see's your ad/hears about you/see's your PPC
Enquiry = someone clicks through/phones up/emails in (to find out more info)
Lead = expresses a desire to use your service and information is exchanged
Instruction = someone says they want to use your services and puts things in place to make a payment
Sale = money changes hands

That's not far off my opinion. Although you need to take account for discovering people expressing a need for what you offer without them knowing anything about you or what you do, as you can locate them through a referral or via social networks, for examle. Then you can shoot straight to a genuine lead without having had to go through the previous two steps.
