Laptop Why 6GB RAM and 8GB SSD ?

Lenovo Z710 17.3-inch Laptop - Metal (Intel Core i7-4700MQ 2.4GHz, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 8GB SSD, NVIDIA GT740 2GB, Bluetooth, Camera, DVDRW, Windows 8.1 Home Premium)

I was looking at laptops and am trying to work out what this is giving the user in terms of RAM and SSD - it must have been done for a reason

Ah got it

It just seemed strange cutting back on 2GB of memory

From what you are saying I would not be using the SSD at all myself - but they would have set it up in some way to get the best out of it

I could essentially forget about it - is that right ?

SSD is solid state drive. These are much more resistant to shock and damage and are much faster then traditional hard drives. It has nothing to do with RAM. As said before, SSD may be used for the system files.

SSD storage is much more expensive than regular hard drives, hence the small amount of space. If the SSD is used for the OS, 8Gb is the minimum for windows 8.
