I'm looking for recommendations for a laptop or chromebook book for running a small business.
I hate Apple products (it's a long story) so will only use Windows or Google operating systems.
I love excel!!
I'm not looking to spend a fortune and it will only be used for accounts emails and online stuff.

If you want Excel beyond basic formulas, the Chromebook is probably out. It will run the web version of Excel and this is it. If you are power user you will soon find yourself missing some features. If you only use the standard stuff you should be good to go.

An alternative to the Chromebook are Netbooks - Low cost / low-powered Windows laptops designed to complete with Chromebooks. They will run the full Excel but dont expect to do anything like gaming or video editing

I would always recommend going with a laptop over a Chromebook in any regard unless you were a light user. Laptops will offer far superior experience and you'll have more processing power for full blown applications, such as Microsoft Office as well as a lot more storage space.

Chromebooks are handy but like I said only for lightweight usage. To be more efficient and not have to invest more in the future on hardware it would be better suited to go with a laptop.

If you are going laptop get a professional grade one.

My wife and I killed a succession of HP Pavilions all in under 2 yrs due to poor quality fans/design. If you need it for work it is worth paying the premium for a business orientated machine as it is rarely financially worth opening up a laptop to repair it nowadays (unless it is a really really high end one like a £1500+ XPS)

I'd go with a laptop. HP, Lenovo
Personally I would steer as far away from HP as you possibly can - or give it to someone who can strip out all the jobby that HP machines come loaded with that have severely slowed down every HP laptop I have been involved with

I looked at Chromebooks a while back, but the lack of functionality and strong drive towards all things Google - naturally - kept me firmly in the Windows camp

Thanks for the comments.
I went with a Chromebook book. I thought I'd try something new.

Reall pleased so far, does all the things I want syncs up with my phone and is very fast. I think because I'm used to Android the transition was easy.

Also bought an WiFi printer that it links to really easily.
