Hi,

I'm looking for somebody who is fluent in German who can do ad-hoc translations for a website and also for some customer and client correspondence.

It's for selling online, but we are going to require more expertise in German unfortunately.

Anybody any recommendations?

For something simple like that I would try vworker.com, you can put your project up and the limit of how much you wish to spend, allow people to make bids and choose who you want. The money goes into escrow and the translator completes the work before you then agree work is complete and the money is released to the translator - its very easy and you get work done at lower prices.
