Not really sure which is best place to ask this.

Is landlord insurance classed as business or personal?

If you are a landlord buying insurance for a let property it's a business expense.

It surely depends on the nature of the insurance and also on the use of the property that is insured. There's not enough information to comment properly

Main reason I asked was because I have home insurance and car insurance with in a Direct Line account and wondered if I could add landlord insurance to the same account or whether I had to open a new account.

    ie.
Can I just sign in here - https://www.directline.com/
or do I have to create a new account here - https://www.directlineforbusiness.co.uk/

If the property is owned and let by a ltd company, I don't think you can just use your account. If it is owned and let by you personally, I would ask Direct Line.

The reason the landlords normally arrange their own insurance and then charge you for it, is to cover themselves that the buildings are always covered at all times. you go bust or just stop paying and next day it goes up in flames he knows he is covered by insurance on the building. The landlord often has to chare vat on the costs of the insurance as well

    I've sorted it now.

It basically just jumps from the personal site to the business site when you click on the landlords link and then you have to sign in again.

I also have another business account with them too for small business insurance (that is in limited company name)

Gets a bit confusing with logins, but just have to remember which is which as I think I have at least 3 accounts with them now which have policies and another couple of accounts from where I have requested quotes over the years.
