Landline in a rented office

I plan to start renting a 1- 2 person office early next year. Forgive me if this is a silly question but how does one go about getting a landline? I don't currently have an account with any telecoms company so would someone need to come out to the site? Or can this be sorted through the office owners?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Michael.

All offices are different, speak to the landlord before you do anything else. Some provide a phone, others you need a line. However if you get your own line installed you will usually have a 1 year contract. If you can avoid it I would just use a voip phone, you'd need a decent internet connection provided to do it though

Hi Michael,

As Carl as said the best thing to do before anything else is to check with the landlord, they may say they will sort it out for you and you can rent it off of them or you can do it yourself. If you are able to get this yourself we would be more than happy to help you out, or explore other alternatives to supplying telephony for your new office space.

Hello Michael,

Some serviced offices already have the infrastructure in place. This could be either the traditional sense PSTN/ISDN or IP based VoIP/SIP. It would be worth checking with the office owners to see if they supply these services already on-site. Some serviced offices actually add a markup to these services so it's recommended to do your research before just committing to their package.

You mentioned that you are looking for a new landline to be installed? Do you have any existing number that you are currently marketing? If so, it would be worthwhile seeing if you can transfer/port this number into any new service to save changing your existing number.

Presuming your a small business and only looking for a couple of handsets, you'd usually be best opting for a VoIP solution. We'd be more than happy to assist you should you need any support moving forward.
