Keywords, titles etc

Hi all

Been reading all the great tips and advice on here but getting bogged down so need and hands on example to set me straight. Would appreciate if someone could take a look at a page from my site and give me some "real world" advice so to speak.

Ie are meta titles OK
Header tags - what are they in this example if there at all ??
Keywords - are they right ?

Think basically what im asking is, if you were optimising just this page what would you do, this would then give me a good reference for the rest of the site.

Cheers in advance

Hi!

I would say no, your meta tags (Title, Keywords, Description) should be unique on each page. Also, the words at the begin carry more weight than those and the end and the more words the more diluted they become.

I would have the title tag for the page you link to to be "Deluxe Rabbit hutch" if that is the phrase you are targeting. Similarly your Dogs page should be titled "Dogs - Dog Collars, Dog clothes...etc" with each category and product page having a very targeted phrase or two. This is the same with keywords and descriptions. For example in your "Dog Food" page your keywords include "cats, horses, reptiles, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs" Why? That page has nothing to do with those terms.

......why am I helping a competitor!? I could write more but I don't want you to beat my rankings so that will do! :D

So the meta title for that page should be something like

Uk Petshop - Quality Rabbit Hutches...?

For example in your "Dog Food" page your keywords include "cats, horses, reptiles, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs" Why? That page has nothing to do with those terms.
Dont understand where you see those keywords on my dog food page, are you talking about the ones in the title tag?

Please write more, there's room enough for both of us ;)...and as a token, have you seen this site hollywoodcollars.com I have the password for the wholesale section if interested. They look like really nice collars, we are just not in the position to order at the mo !

Ok think I see where you got these from, is it the meta name = keywords in the page source ? If so does that mean I would have to manually edit that line for every single page in my site:eek: or is there some magic bit of kit that will do it for me ?

If your using dreamweaver as your editor you can remove and replace across the whole site.Probably other editors have this function to.

Doing a site wide search and replace will only replace the site wide tag text with other site wide tag text which won't solve your problem. It depends on how your software is written. It may have the facility to allow you to enter custom title and meta tags when entering each product, if not, you may need a bit of scripting to grab the relevant keywords from each product description then use them in the tags.

Take for example if your targeted keyword is "Deluxe Quality Rabbit Hutch"

Now "Deluxe Quality Rabbit Hutch" - should be on the left most position and not right most position in your TITLE. Search engines ARE LEFT HANDED, and pick up things which they can easily pick from their LEFT HANDS ( ie keywords on the left side/opening of your TITLE)

DESCRIPTION - It must have your keyword "Deluxe Quality Rabbit Hutch"

KEYWORDS : It should have your targeted keywords deluxe quality rabbit hutch, pet hutch ( only related to this particular product and not whole website)

I am sure it will help you score higher rankings on search engines :)

"Deluxe quality rabbit hutch"
should not appear anywhere in your title as no one is going to search for it.

Rabbit hutches is your main keyword so start your title with that then add the variations like "wooden" "quality" and geo target areas e.t.c.

This was just an example to demonstrate if your targeted keyword is "Deluxe quality rabbit hutch".

I am not into pet business, so I could only give general advice on sample keywords.

My puppy is barking at me, and is trying to suggest some relevant keyword. :D.

Agree..........

You need to add most relevant keywords. You can check out google keyword suggestion tool to find out any relevant keywords. Make sure you select your region UK

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

This will help you select best keywords :).

Since I am not from pet business, I gave you generic advice taking "Deluxe quality rabbit hutch" as a sample keyword.

You just need to add your most relevant / searched phrase in place of ""Deluxe quality rabbit hutch"
