Keeping the ball rolling...

Hello,

Thank you for taking your time to read this post.

For the last few years I have had an itch to start up my own business. After trying to turn different interest into money making I've finally found something I'm quite good at... Selling clothes!

I've been selling pre-loved clothes on ebay, and not been doing too bad so far. I do currently try to sell at a fixed price. I've seen blogs of people who do the same thing, but they do bids only which I think is a risk move... But could this pay off?

I want to get myself out there, without having to spend a fortune. I've created some flyers, which I can get printed for free, and plan on putting in with items I send. I know Facebook is what people say is the best thing, but don't want to just be local.

Is there anybody that has done something similar? Any tips on how I can improve sales? I'd like to eventually start a dress agency, but don't think I'm at that point yet.

A couple of my own things I have sold on bid, and when it has been timed right, has sold for over £10 + p&p... I pick up my items for £4.00 and under. But that isn't a guarantee of making any profit. But the pro of doing it, is being at top of the list when sorted into lowest price.

I attach my own labels so I can offer returns as well.

I am in the middle of building a Shopify website, but unsure of the best way to be recognised and get sales through that rather than using eBay...

I'm in the middle of building a website, my plan going forward is to have a 4 week turnaround. Whatever doesn't sell on there, put on eBay as a bid.

My way of thinking is I can keep things fresh on my website... And getting rid of things that don't sell this making room for new stock. Whether this is a good idea or not I do not know...

Not going to help you increase sales but give Girl Boss a watch if you get chance. Very similar story and it's based on a book too.

Good luck with it all. Give me a shout if you want me to have a look over your flyers and give you some pointers (for free). I can also design social media banners, roller banners, brochures too etc if you ever need them. :)

I do believe that Fb is the best way for such a business. and you can also find there some group though which you can sell not only locally, but globally as well, the thing is that not many people trust such deals though. If you have limited budget, don't think about going global yet, as it's always about risks. If you are ready for any losses, than it's fine.
