Just eat - Hungry house

Dose anyone know what Just eat and Hungry house charge restaurants beyond the 9 to 11% commission on each transaction?
Also, do they pass the card processing fees on to the restaurant or do they cover this?

Thanks for your help

Hi Matt

They also charge approx. £ 1200 to set you up although I believe this can be funded out of the takings that Just Eat generate for you if you wish.

The settlement time is approx. 10 - 14 working days, however I believe the card processing fees are inc in your 9 - 11 % commission fee.

If you are looking to take card payments and are happy to create your own website, and embrace a good SEO provider, there are better deals out there..

Hope this helps

Rgds

Wow I had no idea they charged so much.....

It isn't really a lot providing they are driving lots of new business. And I suspect they are for 90% + of takeaways listed with them.

I order using Just Eat at least once per week and have ordered from takeaways I never knew existed before this platform. It's a fantastic concept and should be a win for JE and a win for their customers.

If I ran a takeaway and it generated me an extra £30k of sales in a year, I wouldn't have a problem paying £3k at a transaction commission rate of 10% + a £1200 sign up fee. I'd strive to market my takeaway thoroughly through the platform and try and make my outlet more attractive than the competition.

But however, I don't own a takeaway and have no experience working this field. It just looks a pretty attractive marketing channel and from experience, I know loads of takeaways near me have benefited from it.

As long as you are happy with JE controlling all aspects of your presentation on the web and that you are then lumped in with all other providers in your area..

It certainly drives more business, but how much of it is actually new would be the thing that concerned me as opposed to regulars just being lazy..

As I said with a decent website with SEO sorted and an ecommerce engine you could do it yourself, but JE do provide a good service, albeit for a premium price point..

Completely disagree actually. People are going straight to the likes of these platforms to order takeaways. Granted, not everybody, but a lot are. Ranking top of Google for 'indian takeaway london' with a fantastic website isn't going to capture these customers.

I know I use it for the ease of use as much as anything.

I'm a nightmare for not carrying cash on me, if I do I know I'll end up wasting it so don't bother, so something like just eat that stores payment info on an encrypted systems allows me to buy pretty much whenever and wherever I like.

If your average pizza joint down the road saved payment details there's no way I'd even enter them to begin with.

Then taking the functionality of a site into consideration, I've never come across a takeaway that has it's own site that can compare to what just eat can offer (the just eat site itself and the sites they now seem to be building for customers).

In fact, I struggle to think of a site that wasn't either a Vista Print DIY job or a cheap CMS type thats been built in a rush.

I get the opinion that budgets for that sort of stuff isn't too high for takeaway ventures, in the main, so no way can they afford the whole package they'd need to rival the interest and new business they'd get from Just Eat. (Although I say that just as I'm about to help a friend set up one of their own)

Hi Everyone, I am after further information on Hungry House and Just Eat. I have approached them both to ask for further information and possibly speak to someone about their service offerings costs etc, but told they cant help me until I am trading.

This is why I have turned to you guys. What are their costs to set up I see above it is a £1,200 sign up fee, is this still correct and the same for both providers?

Also I read somewhere that to start off with you don't get one of their in-house printers that print orders automatically, these come at a later date when sales increase above a certain threshold? What do they do when you don't have these printers?

Thanks
