Joining VAT Group

I have two questions and would like your opinion.
1. Does a company have to file a FINAL Vat Return when it is joining Vat Group
2. and does it have to pay Vat on goods in hand and other assets in that final return.

Lastly if any one have some ebooks on UK VAT providing detailed guidance for proffessionals then email me. Thanks in advance.

1. yes. I once discovered a gap in legislation at this point; but all outputs and inputs do need to be accounted for.
2. in my view, no, as you are not deregistering.

thanks lesvatadvice. i enquired gov.uk help chat and they you have to account for vat on stock in hand and other assets unless transaction by way of Transfer of Going Concern. They also took alot of time to answer that question.
