I've got good informative articles. What to do with them?

Hi Guys,

I've had some really good articles written for me. I have placed them on blogger which is also embedded on my site.

My question is, what else should I do with them? If anything?

They all have a link to the relevant product within them. Should I then link back from the product? For example, click here to read 10 reasons why... (and link back to the blog?) Or will this not help with anything?

Also, I know submitting to article directories is a waste of time but is there anything else I should be doing with the articles to improve SEO?

Here are some tips that can help.

Share these articles on social media sites and discussion groups and communities where your target market can be found. Try building links to these posts. Don't link back from the product pages to these posts. Try contacting bloggers in your industry to offer them these articles for free with a goal of building links back to your product pages. That will not only build links but also allow users from your industry to directly navigate to your website to view your products.

If they are genuinely useful articles then there are many content hubs around the net that are very authoritative and accept article submissions on a variety of subjects. I stress that they must be genuinely useful, and the link must be absolutely relevant and not salesy at all for an article to be accepted to the better and more authoritative sites.

Otherwise, you're better off keeping the more salesy stuff on your own blog as that has fewer criteria you need to meet in terms of links and references etc. However, this is not necessarily the best for SEO as if you have natural and relevant citations and links on authoritative domains your site is going to be viewed more favourably by a search engine's algorithm.

As a result, if you look at the articles and feel they're a little bit salesy it might be worth editing them a bit and tweaking where you can so they are suitable for offsite content hubs. Maybe add some pictures and references etc.

Some good content hubs I have found include;

Scribd

SlideShare - bear in mind for this hub your content will need to be in a slideshow format such as .ppt.

If you're confident in you content, then you could also quite feasibly approach guest bloggers and offer them one the articles you have. Just do some research to find bloggers you like and that are suitable, then contact them and tell them what the article is and why it's well suited etc. Do this for around 10 blogs and you're much more likely to get a response.

Once your content is published, even if it's just on your own blog, you can then do some social media promotion and social bookmarking. Look for some influential people on Twitter and share the content with them. You can also social bookmark these articles on communities like Reddit or Digg. This way you maximise your chances of getting a good number of views on each articles, comments, likes and hopefully referral visits and conversions.

By the way, I do realise that 'salesy' isn't a word - but I hope you understand what I mean.:cool:

Here are my thought on this.

- submit to article directories
- submit to social bookmarking sites
- press releases

Also about the part you link back to the blog, which is called internal linking, I think it is ok.

I know somebody has already mentioned social media sites but instead of just posting on them actually give the information to people that need it. For example use the search bar on twitter. If the blog is called "Where to buy a Holiday Home" then search on Twitter "Where should I buy a Holiday Home?" this will then bring up all the people looking to buy a holiday home and you can then send them a link to your article.

You can promote your articles via:

- social media sites (Facebook, Twitter Google+, etc.);
- social bookmarking websites (Digg, Reddit, Scoop.It etc.);
- your contacts - people who subscribed to your newsletter or RSS feed;
- via other influential bloggers - select a handful of bloggers you have had some sort of engagement with and offer them any help along with your offer for them to share your published post;
- forums - you may add a link to your articles to your signature;
- blog comments - select relevant blogs and post comments with the links to your articles there (just make sure you leave meaningful comments and don't spam there);
- content syndication - if it is done the right way, it can help you spread your content across many networks.
