ISO Certification required

Hello all,
I am looking for an ISO certification for my friend's company. He is a small trading company that imports and sell online. He is looking for ISO 9001 to present good quality control image among his customers. Can someone suggest me who to use and how much would it cost?

There are loads of companies that can do the assessment, e.g. BSI, LRQA, NQA, DNV.... Google "ISO 9000 certification" and shop around. Some are more focused on small businesses than others. You just need to check that they are accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
There are two parts to the costs:
1) The specialist help (consultant) your mate may need to get his systems and docimentation in order. For a small business the might be £2-5k
2) The assessment itself - budget around £1000 for the initial assessment then min £500 yearly
Getting it and keeping it is a bit of a burden, so unless he sells B2B and he has customers asking for it, I wouldn't bother Otherwise just concentrate on giving a great service.

Correct.

ISO9001 is not proof that a business gives good service or offers quality product, though some perceive it so.

If you get ISO9001 it will mean you have documented a huge amount of the processes in the business. You will then have to re-write a process if you change it, issue the new process document to everyone who holds a copy, record the fact that you have issued a new process.
Also, you will need to audit the ISO9001 documentation against actual work practice every year. You can guess what you will need to do if you find any differences.
Don't enter into this lightly.
