Is your company name different to your trading name?

I will be setting up a Ltd company soon but the company name will be totally different to my trading name. Will that cause headaches down the line with cheques etc. What are the pitfalls to avoid here?

Yes mine is. I've owned companies with the same ltd & trading names and currently with different - makes no odds. You can have cheque books etc. in either name although the whole premise of cheques is rather out dated!

I run multiple trading names under one limited company. Cheques aren't a problem as I don't generally accept them, although you can ask your bank to add your trading name to the account so that it can accept cheques payable to that name.

Possibly although personally I've not seen a cheque in years.

I'm all for keeping it simple.
