Is Video Marketing Genuine SEO Strategy

You need to move away fomr the SEO tag (as in optimising purely for rankings), and move on to asking 'Is this a good internet marketing system'. Search has changed and IS changing, traffic is now obtainable from many sources other than pure text based html/php etc pages. Traffic can come in the form of images, videos and many other routes.

Yes some SEO (as in help me rank) benefit can be gained from video distribution, but that is akin to using a glass vase to knock a nail in. While it will do the job, it is hardly the most optimal use for the item :)

Video submission is one of the good practices of link building but make sure your video has the descriptive title and other valid content associated with your video because the title and description of your video will be used to identify your video while searching

Video is an outstanding alternative for marketing and advertising for businesses. Video gives the business proprietor a chance to carry his/her products and services alive and to distinguish themselves from their competitors. The best part is video marketing does not have to be costly, particularly with options such as Windows Movie Maker, Animoto and even very reasonably outsourcing also exist.

Don't underestimate the power of video marketing. It's also valuable for SEO if done properly. Haven't you seen videos appearing in the general search results pages of Google? Video links that show up on these first page results are more than 80% more likely to be clicked on than plain old text links. Everyone loves video. There is much evidence of how powerful video marketing is, and here's just one for example: Go to Google and type in "essential vitamin suppliers" without the quotes. I rest my case.

You wouldn't be biased, would you? :p

Out of the 300 views on that particular video, how many customers did your client get?

I don't follow up with all my clients, my job is to create videos, and I guess it all depends on how many people are looking for vitamins. However this particular video has only been up for a couple of weeks and has probably had more than 300 views because the count stops at 300 for about 10 days and then resumes. Point is, it gets noticed on the first page out of about 50 million results. Biased? Just a bit, but how else could I demonstrate the power of video?

I think part of SEO is planning for the future and a good way to predict what will be in the future is to look at what people like today as the search engines always strive to give web users what they want.

Video is getting bigger all of the time, replacing old fashioned "reading" (-: I think it is only a matter of time before Google manages to determine and effective way to incorporate video into their algorithm. Right now I don't think it has much of an impact on your search results directly but increasing user experience can have lots of invaluable indirect benefits. And video marketing can be a very effective means of marketing in certain industries, there is plenty of information on-line about how to rank a video effectively.

Sorry but you're wrong about video not having an impact on search results. If you build a Youtube channel and get lots of high PR backlinks, then knock out some good videos and list them on that channel with some nice descriptions and a backlink to your website, it's like pure gold. Google is forever looking at ways to monetise its Youtube baby and will reward those who help with producing good content ;)

keep in mind that currently Google are on the warpath with regard commercial exploitation of Youtube, with accounts being banned right left and centre, especially if you are pushing affiliate products.

Video works, but like everything else it is changing as Google move to monetising all their properties. Make hay while the sun shines 9as the saying goes)

Video Marketing can work really well, but in most cases doesn't. Most people upload boring videos, especially the blatant advertising ones and people generally don't pass these on unless they find something interesting, entertaining or unusual. Blatant advertising will almost certainly be hit by a nasty penguin like creature.

Every video should start with a hook that connects emotionally with the searcher and compels them to watch the video. The content should flow and build upon that emotional connection to lead the viewer through the video to the call to action. Few videos do this and those that try, often fail.

If you are starting out in Video Marketing, I'd suggest you spend your time on a simple text message accompanied by music. Study copy writing and marketing rather than video technology.

Silent video generally doesn't work, so adding some music appropriate to whatever you are marketing almost always helps. Images should only be added if they add something to the message and then only after you've had some success with text only.

Be sparing on special effects and colour. Colour can add to the impact if used sparingly. Anyone remember the schindlers list ad with the little girl in a red coat on a B&W background...

Good voice overs can make a video, but are expensive, and cheap voice overs can ruin an otherwise good message. I'd avoid voice overs until you've had some experience and success.

Video is a very good way to get ranked as well as drive traffic to a site if done correctly. Just the fact that video gets most of the traffic online. I just have stats from May of this year as it pertains to the U.S. and 46 billion videos were viewed in that month alone.

Google owns Youtube and they are going to have preference for video in their search engine, wanting to blend different types of media to give their customers a more diversified viewing experience.

Of course, it’s not just slapping up a video, but optimizing the right keywords and having keyword rich descriptions, titles just like you would for any blog post or article. It’s also an underutilized strategy because people think it’s just too hard to make a video.

Well it’s really not that difficult with the right tools. I mean an article placed on power point slides and converted into a video works and gets views if it solves a problem and helps. Again, this only takes 5 to 10 minutes to do, if you have the right software to do it with. I do it all the time using a video maker created by Webfire.

And, if I have the choice of following along and hear and see an audio article in this case, I'd rather watch and listen than read online…lol…

Well hope that helps…it’s worth implementing into a marketing strategy.

Yes, definitely. You can include links in the description field and link directly back to your target pages. Or, you can get the videos themselves ranked in the search engines (YouTube is best for this) for your target keywords and re-direct this traffic to your website/landing page.

Google love videos and they're often indexed within minutes and depending on the competition you can have them ranking well for your keywords within a few days.

Sorry to dig up a post from a fortnight ago... but I was interested in this, because I was loosely planning to advertise my business using a You Tube video.

This is a quote from You Tube T&Cs... and my amateur understanding suggests that you can to most commercial activities (a video of my shop and what I sell etc) on You Tube. Am I missing something? Thanks.

  1. You agree not to use the Service for any of the following commercial uses unless you obtain YouTube's prior written approval:
    • the sale of access to the Service;
    • the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions placed on or within the Service or Content; or
    • the sale of advertising, sponsorships, or promotions on any page of an ad-enabled blog or website containing Content delivered via the Service, unless other material not obtained from YouTube appears on the same page and is of sufficient value to be the basis for such sales.
  2. Prohibited commercial uses do not include:
    • uploading an original video to YouTube, or maintaining an original channel on YouTube, to promote your business or artistic enterprise;
    • showing YouTube videos through the Embeddable Player on an ad-enabled blog or website, subject to the advertising restrictions set forth above in Section 4.D; or
    • any use that YouTube expressly authorizes in writing.
