Is this possible for non-UK residents to buy property in the UK?

I want to know can someone who is not a citizen of the UK can also buy property in the UK or not. This thing came across to me through my family and friends. One day they are discussing this topic and I was just listening to their debates related to this. So I personally start searching for answers on the internet but I am not fully sure about the results that's why I am sharing this here in this forum to get the best result.
